Congratulations to our SDrA fellow Dr Diana Hart who has been awarded The Order of Australia Medal "For service to medicine through the Australian Medical Association, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Nepal Cleft Palate project, and as an advocate for the role of women in medicine, particularly in general practice."

The Australian Medical Association involvement is as Northern Area Representative on AMA(NSW) Council and previous President of its Warringah Branch.

The RACGP involvement was on various Committees and fostering a number of junior female colleagues as their Family Medicine Program Training Supervisor.

The Nepal Cleft Palate Project: Diana chaired the Rotary Committee to raise money for this worthwhile project, run by Dr Charles Sharpe. She travelled to Nepal twice as the team's general practitioner, looking after the health of the team members, helping with the operations and looking after any of the medical pre and post operative problems.

Diana was the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Freshwater in 1992 and has held a number of Rotary District 9680 positions over the years.

She has served on the board of the Hope for the Children Foundation since 1998 and was involved with the establishment of the Northern Beaches Family network, opened in 2000 - another Rotary project.

Diana has also given lectures for Sports Medicine Australia, helped in sporting events cover and been a Doping Control Medical Officer, during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
